Hello everyone.
I am an earth science major at a local community college preparing for transfer to a four year university and major in meteorology. The class I am currently in (Intro to GIS) requires a lot of work but is very fun!
At the moment working (and struggling) on my GIS project, I am in dire need of elevation and vegetation shapefiles (shp.) for ArcGIS; for use in ArcMap. I have looked everywhere, Google'd everything imaginable and looked on GIS Clearinghouses/US Census/USGS. Even attempted to get some data-basemaps from ArcGIS Online, but failed terribly at doing so because I guess you cannot access them for use in ArcMap.
If anyone happens to know where I can locate and put to use some shapefiles as mentioned for my tornado research GIS project/final exam, I would very much appreciate the time and help.
Thanks so much in advance!
