travel photos and indoor sport? Please give me advice. I can't decide b/n Canon PowerShot SX20 IS & Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35! I'm an amateur, but I'm a fast learner. I love photographing people at events and nature. I also want the zoom and iso to do well, because I'd like to have higher quality mixed martial arts photos, which are often poorly lit. All advice is welcome, including if you feel another model would be more suitable. Keep in mind that I can't afford to go much higher in price though. Thanks!
 
I'm not familiar with the Panasonic, and I'm a Canon girl, so chances are I'd go with the Canon.
For indoor sports, neither one will be perfect - when it gets really tricky like that, only a (D)SLR can REALLY perform well.

However, the biggest difference will be made by YOU!

Learn about your camera !!!!

Read your manual !!!! Read it several times, and practice in between.

Attend a class, read some books, read/watch online tutorials.

The major camera manufacturers (like Canon, Nikon, Olympus etc) all have very useful sections on their website for learning about photography.

Understanding at least the basic principles of photography (as well as being familiar with your camera) will enable you to make the most of your gear, and will make a HUGE difference to your images.
