Can't connect Samsung Code to Windows Vista?

ActiveSync cannot be installed on Vista, so it says the only way to sync my Samsung Code is to use Windows Mobile Device Center. But that won't work either, it doesn't recognize my phone so it says it is not connected. It can still charge on the computer but it won't connect. Help please???
