Since grade six (four years ago), whenever I run a long distance, or sometimes not so long, I begin to not be able to breathe, to a point where I have to make sharp gasps in order to just get a little air, and I get cramps in my mid section so sharp and painful it feels like somebody is repeatedly stabbing me in the stomach with a knife. I play soccer, rugby, and enjoy PE a lot, but I seem to only get this problem during longer distance runs, it has never happened during a soccer or rugby game, but I suspect it is just because it's not as long as straight running a marathon. I never seemed to have this problem before the sixth grade, but maybe that's because I have never ran as hard as I have since, but I'm not sure. Would you say this is asthma? I have never been checked for asthma, but in about a weeks time I'm going to my family doctor and I will ask him about it, but any information would help.
I am 15, male, below average height (5'5"), weigh 115 lbs, and I am very fit. I play soccer, rugby, and always participate as hard as I can in PE.
Thanks.
