I can't receive financial aide because i'm still in high school and taking a duel credit course this year.
Now to explain, when I registered I was told that they weren't switching books till the spring semester, and then she told me that if i wanted to double check the book needed would be posted on web advisor. 4 weeks later, it's still saying to be determined. So I emailed the professor, and he said that a new edition was released and that is was we were going to use.
I know the whole "well that doesn't excuse you for not having the book" but i am truly panicking at the moment. I don't have the money to buy a brand new book at the moment (which is my only choice at the moment, since it's new for everybody).. The class starts on the 30th.
I have $60 (mind you not, we live 50 minutes from the college and 30 miles to the nearest business and I cannot drive). The new book is 160. Help me? Please. What can I do?
I'm pretty sure i'm going to need a textbook the first day of class, since i'm taking a 3 hour College Algebra course once a week.
The cheapest I can find on Amazon is 120. But it'd take over a week to get here.
The thing is, since I was told they weren't switching editions when I registered, the plan was to buy the book from my friend (who had taken the class during the summer semester). She was going to sell it to me for $40. :/ Which makes everything a whole lot worse, i had to pay for this class with what money I made during the summer (i babysat a few weeks for a family member, not making much but enough to afford what i thought i would have to spend on this).
