i've been using canon for several years but i got canon cos my dad uses it and says it good.

i'm curious about nikon though.

they seem to be good cameras

is one better than the other?

what are your opinions on the two brands?

Nikon was my first "Getting Down to Business” camera and in the 1960's and 1970's was the camera to own.

Canon has since made such great advances as in face recognition and improvements in all phases that they are now the undisputed leader in the field.

I now carry three Canon cameras, a point and shoot 12 mp, a range finder equivalent and SLR. All are digital

Pros have been shooting Nikon for over fifty years and despite the competition nudging ahead for short periods of time, they always end up on top in whatever they do. The Nikon D3 is testiment to that. Canon are more suited to people who like to use the "P" mode on their cameras and they do a damn fine job in said mode.

To date, Nikon have the best 35mm film SLR ever made (F6) and the best 35mm digital ever made (D3). Canon is to Nikon as Pepsi is to Coke. Some people buy Nikon for the prestige however I buy them for their build quality, ergonomics and backwards compatibility.

oh and look at this.........
