I am looking to buy a digital camera with good optical zoom for my parents. I am unable to decide between the above options because what is lacking in one camera is available in the other and vice versa. I do not wish to compare the camera on price yet, just on the performance at this point in time.

Here is a wish list of what I expect the most from my camera:
1. Assuming that I'd want to print my pictures someday, EXCELLENT/EXCEPTIONAL quality of pictures in terms of: crisp/sharp images on zooming, natural color, good contrast, performance in low light, less of purple color interference
2. High optical zoom (anything >= 10x works for me just fine)
3. Smooth and crystal clear video recording with the ability to zoom in motion

Nice to haves:
1. Panaromic sweep or photostitch feature or something similar
2. ability to shoot in HD
3. long battery life
4. good screen visibility in the sun
5. within the range of $200-$300 (I can go a little more than that if required)
6. <anything else that you may suggest. >

I am not very keen on GPS because I know it won't be needed.

Am hoping that you'd not lead me to another set of reviews on the internet that I may have already visited. Citing your own experience in deciding to buy and keeping any of the above would help the most I guess. Also, if you have other cameras to suggest, please do and cite your reason as well.

Thanks for the information and your time.
