Canon lense fashion photography -Which one shall i buy -Student?

Hi guys,
well i am going to be a student hopefully studying fashion Photography down london , i guess i will be doing a mixture of studio work with lighting and flashes and also alot of outdoor shoots with natural lighting and also lighting

and well i need a really good lens but which is reasonably priced and gives me amazingly smooth images, sharp, excellent colours, the full package i just want this lens to last me a long time and cover all my needs as a fashion photographer and a guy who shoots portraiture aswell

i have a canon eos 450d now i no that it is not full frame but im gonna have to deal with that

now i have found a really ..well priced Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS USM lens

now i seems like the perfect lens for everything from what i have heard

i am on the verge of buying this lens

now i really dont wanna prime lens i like the zoom as i like to be in control of what im capturing

i do alot of backstage stuff and catwalk shows so the lens should be good for that too.

i just want to no your opinions on the lens and if there are any other really really good lenses out there that fit perfectly for what i am going to specify in

now i really like the 24-70mm lens but to be honest thats really really expensive and a bit out of my price range

so i would really appreciate any advice
 
Rather than buy, rent (lease).
It's a bit of an investment to buy without some personal knowledge of how it works for you. We all have our own vision on things.

I'd look for something faster, but they come at a steeper price and that's just me.
