I had to cancel an order I placed a software upgrade (too expensive) with a very popular software company because I misread the price. Guess what? they sent the package anyway! A few days later they added the charge on after all and I called to return it. I told them what a hassle it's been to have to always wait on their phone lines, getting a general runaround with ordering and then cancelling. Their agent told me to open the package and give him the serial numbers and he applied it to my account/serial numbers they have in their database, and he said that I could just go ahead and keep it, which of course was wonderful considering I need this software. I thought it was generous and a nice way of making me feel good about doing business with them. I've been buying software from them for a long time now -- since the late 90's. Now the company called today and said I was misinformed and said I (had to pay out of my own pocket) to ship it back to them and that I couldn't have the software. I was furious because my Dad just went out yesterday and bought me a new Mac computer that it would work on, which is already opened. What would you do?? ( Side note: I just read they posted $1 Billion in profits last quarter. Are they just sending cancelled orders out to people and making them pay for it, is that how they're making their billions of dollars??)
