Cancel Your Contract With No ETF

No, sorry. Most contracts allow you to cancel with no ETF if there is a "material change" in your plan. This typically means overages, SMS rates, or roaming rates have increased. And it takes timing and perseverance (and it helps to have a copy of your contract so you can read it to the CSRs).

Hmmm. I'm a bit confused. What if I just recently got on the unlimited loyalty plan. Does that cancel out any chance I would've had on canceling my contract, considering I've been with them about 4 years or so?? OMG!! I feel like a dingleberry!

*Let me add that I was on the 2000 min family share with my husbands line. Does that make a difference??

Here's the actual verbiage in the contract:

Changes to the Agreement or Charges. EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY LAW, IF WE: (A) INCREASE THE CHARGES INCLUDED IN YOUR MONTHLY RECURRING ACCESS RATE PLAN, OR (B) MODIFY A MATERIAL TERM OF OUR AGREEMENT WITH YOU AND THE MODIFICATION WOULD BE MATERIALLY ADVERSE TO YOU, WE WILL NOTIFY YOU OF THE INCREASE OR MODIFICATION AND YOU CAN CANCEL THAT SERVICE WITHOUT PAYING A CANCELLATION FEE (WHICH IS YOUR ONLY REMEDY) BY FOLLOWING THE CANCELLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THE NOTICE. IF YOU DO NOT CANCEL YOUR SERVICE BY FOLLOWING THOSE INSTRUCTIONS, OR YOU OTHERWISE ACCEPT THE CHANGE, THEN YOU AGREE TO THE INCREASE OR MODIFICATION, EVEN IF YOU PAID FOR SERVICE IN ADVANCE. IF THE NOTICE DOES NOT SAY HOW LONG YOU HAVE TO CANCEL, THEN IT IS WITHIN 14 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF THE NOTICE, UNLESS A LONGER PERIOD IS REQUIRED BY LAW. EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY LAW, CHARGES FOR PRODUCTS, SERVICES, OPTIONAL SERVICES, OR ANY OTHER CHARGES THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR MONTHLY RECURRING ACCESS RATE PLAN (SUCH AS DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE, ROAMING, DOWNLOADS, AND THIRD-PARTY CONTENT) ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE, AND IF YOU CONTINUE TO USE THOSE SERVICES, OR YOU OTHERWISE AGREE TO THE CHANGES, THEN YOU AGREE TO THE NEW CHARGES. VISIT OUR WEB SITE, RETAIL LOCATIONS, OR CALL CUSTOMER CARE FOR CURRENT CHARGES.

That all translates into if they change something in the contract that either does or has the potential to affect you materially, as this could, then you can break the contract with no early termination fee. I've heard very mixed experiences with T-Mo when doing this though. If it's something you really want to do, you may have to push them a bit to get them to do it.

If you break the contract can you do month to month? Haha I know its a goob question! And as soon as I posted here, I dialed up TMO and got that unlock subsidy (request) with a quickness Just in case!!! I doubt I would do it though. You know cancel. It seems like it might be a PITA!!

Typically if you have an unlimited plan you aren't affected because you can't go over
