Basically i've had expressvu for probably around 7 years, so i'm not under contract and all of my equipment is pretty old. I want to upgrade to HD service and get two HD receivers, which afaik will require some more equipment/newer dish etc. After looking at bells site new subscribers can rent two hd receivers and get the HD essentials pack basic + movies + 5 theme choices for 80 some dollars per month, with free installation, 100$ activation fee and 125$ credit. My question is can I phone up, cancel my service, then sign up again as a new customer after my months notice to take advantage of that? no? Is there a good chance retention will offer me something similar?

I could be wrong, but I thought that the definition of customer applies to "persons" not the address that the person lives at. Cancel and then subscribe back on your spouse's name. As long it is a different person, you should be fine. Someone here should be able to confirm that though.

I believe to qualify as a new customer, you cannot have had the service for at least 6 months
If you are thinking of getting HD, check out the 9200
Its a little more money, but well worth it, IMHO

I HATE TV is right...

As an existing client if you o not have the Nimiq 2 programming you have to pay the rentl certificate (100$) on a credit card, which will be fully reinbursed on your next Express Vu bill...we will send a tech to complete the installation and there would be no charge for the tech. You will also have 6 months of HD programming free of charge if you rent the receiver. There would be a charge of 10$ or 20$/month depending if you took a 6100 or a 9200

You can also call and say you want to cancel...they will probably make you a sweet offer!

Better renting for the 9200 as it will become obsolete, and new receivers are also coming soon.

Just tell BEV that you will be cancelling your account and they will transfer you to the retention department and offer you a deal. I was a 7 year customer who just went through non stop problems in my last 2 years. BEV offered me a 9200 for 2 years, plus 6 months of free HD programming not to switch.

As I cannot reward crappy service,I switched anyways :p But here is at least something for you to try for.

yeah except I gave him/her an example of what kind of offer to expect seeing how in my example I quit after the exact same timeframe of continual service with BEV,

"Sweet offer" could mean anything.
