My 3-year contract is done at the end of this month and I'm now wondering if I should buy the new UMTS Nexus One from Google or the Milestone from Telus. I would be able to use any of the HSPA carriers in Canada; Bell, Telus or Rogers/Fido and decide which provides the best price and service.
It's definitely a change for me to buy a new phone outright and skip the contract but really I'm only saving a few hundred dollars by signing a contract which isn't a lot considering the alternative of having a choice of any of the three carriers and any plan I want at any time.
I'm wondering though; I've been really considering the Milestone because of the hardware keyboard but the Nexus One has an amazing screen and fully supported Android 2.1. Right now it looks like the Nexus One would be cheaper, not by much though, than the Milestone too.
Anyone have an opinion on which way I should go? In the end, I may just ditch either for Win Mobile 7 Series at the end of the year anyway.
