Canada History Fact Question?

Alright so I was looking on the net for some cool facts about Canada. And here's a fact that i'm not certain if it's true? "We have the largest English population that never surrendered or withdrew in war." I believe Britain never surrendered as well, and their population is 60million while we only have 33 million?

So is this fact true or false?
