Can your doctor tell you've had sex?

I'm sixteen and having my first PAP test tomorrow and scared about the whole thing. I think it's just gonna be so uncomfortable. My mom isn't gonna be in the room, but she usually comes in later. So, can the doctor tell? She's not allowed to say anything to my mom, right? Patient-doctor confidentiality?

She is not allowed to tell your mother anything you do not want her to. You need to be open and honest with your doctor for your safety, but tell her what you are not comfortable with your mother knowing before your mother comes in the room.

The doctor is required to be confidential and as long as you request it, she will not tell your mom about your sexual history. I strongly advise you to tell your doctor that you're not a virgin because your mom doesn't have to know bit it's important that your doctor does.

Well,Here I answer this to you.Pap smear test is not uncomfortable when you allow the doctor to introduce the speculum by relaxing your pelvis. If you relax when the test is done then the discomfort is negligible.
Normally the doctor must maintain the secrecy of what you have told him but if he finds anything alarming on your side which is important and may jeopardize your health then the gynae may reveal this fact to your mother keeping in view your health.Otherwise if you are active on sex or not these facts are not revealed.BUT you must not hide anything from the doctor so that any important diagnosis is not missed out otherwise the whole purpose of the check up is useless.

Righto! Your doctor can't tell your mother anything you don't want her to know. Unless you know your mom will have a total freak out, it wouldn't be a bad idea to tell her. If she's going to be at the doctors, what are you gonna tell her that you're there for anyway?

Meh, anyways..

make sure that you ARE very honest with your doctor though. Whenever I get feeling awkward with PAP tests and discussing other weird girly things with your doctor (you could always get a girl doctor for the PAP it definitley makes it easier), remember their status: they ARE doctors. They see people everyday. While they are poking and proding at you, it's just anatomy. It's like an every day thing for them, they don't care!

Just get through it, your doctor won't tell.
Good luck tomorrow. If you want any other info about the PAP (I know it's a nervous thing at first) gimme an email. :)

you are only supposed to go for a pap smear when u are sexually active.
so i think your mum might have a good idea that you have had sex if you told her you are going for a pap smear.
