Can you work in a ny hospital without high school diploma?

I'm going for my GED right now. But the wait is so long. I really need a better job with benefits since im 19 years old now. I was wondering if the Staten island hospitals hire people without diplomas to just do typing stuff or help patients. If someone knows any info that i don't know. It would be great. Thank you so much.
