Can you wear denim jackets in the rain?

Would I and the jacket get too wet if I wore it in the rain for 20 minutes

I think it depends, I think denim does just kinda absorb water and you'll get soaked. But I have heard of water resistant denim, but chances are if it doesn't say this on the label it won't be.

Yes, denim holds lots of water, especially for 20 minutes. If it is a dark denim, make sure you are careful because it can bleed onto your clothes if they are light colors.
