can you use aloe vera leaf gel on an open wound after it turns dark in color?

I am treating my diabetic mother who has in the past been treated for gout and in December of last year a small ulcer started and has spread larger with pus surrounding it. I have been using aloe vera leaf gel and covering with gauze . Is there any other natural remedy for this type of wound.

Aloe vera is a good remedy, but if its that bad (growing, pus) it would be time to take her to the doctor especially if the ulcer is anywhere below the waist. Diabetics have poor circulation and have a hard time healing wounds below the waist because of that. It would just be safer to get antibiotics and let professionals handel gout on a diabetic then you trying home remedys. Hope this gets better I know how stressful and painful it is to take care of a diabetic.
