Can you use a Iphone 3g without a data plan?

ok so i have at&t and i cant get a data plan so i was wondering if its possible to use an iphone WITHOUT a DATA plan. calling and texting isnt a worry, please list your sources if you can.

Yeah, you can use it, just you can't text, call, or use 3G. Kinda the same as putting any iPhone into Airplane Mode (but with wi-fi.)
