I am looking for communities where you can walk to your doctor, the pharmacy, the grocery store, church, school, etc. Public transportation would be required for anything that cannot be reached on foot. Please don't tell me about NYC! Although it would be great because I wouldn't need a car, it is WAY too expensive. So NJ is probably out too. Let's put it this way, we live in the Buffalo-Niagara region of NY, so we could NEVER afford to live in NYC or San Francisco or Boston, etc etc. An area where you can live downtown and not be totally unsafe, or a smaller neighborhood setting like a smart growth community or something. Would Denver be a good choice? Oh, and not to be a total pain, but we have an autistic child. So services would have to be good. In advance, I thank you for looking into this and thinking about where you've been in your travels! Thank you for sharing some great neighborhoods with me. Many blessings!
