Can you still get financial aid even if you transfer mid-year?

I may be transferring to Hampton University, which is very close to my home (family & personal problems may have me going back), but I am receiving financial aid at my current university. So my question is: If you transfer to a new university half-way in the year, or for the spring semester in other words, can you still get financial aid, especially at an expensive school like Hampton? I listed Hampton on my FAFSA form along with my current university when I filled it out, and I only need financial aid for the spring semester because I am hoping to receive an ROTC scholarship for the rest of my time in college. If I could, what are some things I should take into consideration?

If you qualify for federal aid, it would not change, Other aid, such as school and possibly state aid would not transfer.

There are maximum limits on federal aid, so, going to a more expensive school could wind up costing you more money out of pocket.
