Can you still buy Alltel prepaid cell phones now that Verizon's bought the company?

In my area, everyone's told me that the best cell provider is Alltel. But recently, Verizon has bought/merged with Alltel and a friend of mine who has Verizon has no improvement in their service. When shopping, I still see prepaid refill cards for Alltell cell phones, but no phones. Can you still buy them and them work?
