The first man has the first thing.
The second man has the second thing.
The first man needs the thing that the second man has.
The second man needs the thing that the first man has.
If each man gave the other man his thing, then only the first man would gain the third thing.
what are the three things.

It is also not something random like "the first thing is toast, the second thing is butter, and the third thing is a full stomach"
