Hurricane Katrina was one of the 5 deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States, leaving people panicking to get out of the path of danger. Many people finding refuge in hotels many miles away, one of the hotels, the Hampton Inn & Suites in Humble,TX around 300 miles from the hurricane. Though the storm was far from Humble, the city was still feeling some of the effects of the hurricane such as rain and gusty winds causing trees and power lines to get knocked down. Every hotel in the area closed, but my father, who managed the Hampton Inn & Suites in Humble refused to close his doors to the many people that needed him most. I was 10 years old, seeing all the chaos on the news, I wanted to help with the hotel. I helped put together care packages for the guests when they checked into the hotel, talk to the guests, and clean up. I may have helped take part in trying to make the hurricane victims experience better but they also helped me and I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I met so many great people and heard amazing stories that gave me a fresh perspective on how I looked at things and if anything, increased my drive to want to help people. I only wish I could have done more. Everyone was very amiable. Guests offered to help clean, cook, and make the best of the hard time they were going through. The duration of the hurricane may not have been long but its damage had been detrimental. It has been 6 years since the natural disaster occurred and still they are trying to rebuild the city.
I have to write about a time I helped someone and its due tomorrow. The only thing I can think of is helping the Katrina victims. I have already written most of it but im not very inspired right now and just dont like the way the essay has turned out. If you could suggest words to put in or just things I could make up
I would like to elaborate on how I helped the guests since that is the prompt but dont remember much and cant think of anything at this moment. If you could inspire me and give me some ideas that would be great.
