TELL US (c)
Sometimes I’m two people at once
I feel tangled up in many things
Confronting the distant laughter
Life is suspended by strings
“Tells us what happened to Amy,”
Something about this voice is a joke
Something about this chair screams
Trying to fix whatever Amy broke
“She dropped her coloring book
She dropped colors everywhere
It didn’t matter, she was alone
Wasn’t like colors were ever there
Or maybe she left the pages there
Purposely let go of all her dreams
It didn’t matter, she was alone
And nothing is like it ever seems…”
“Tell us what happened to Amy,”
Something about this voice shows concern
Something about this room scares me
Waiting for it to finally be my turn
“She let the green train pass her
She let all her emotions pass her
It didn’t matter, she was alone
And dreams aren’t worth chasing after
Or maybe it was the red train
Purposely left her behind
It didn’t matter, she was alone
And already losing her mind…”
“You say she was alone
And already going insane,
Do you mean she wanted to
Attempt suicide on the train?”
“She never rode the train alone,”
“That’s off the subject,”
“She would have never gone
If she knew she was perfect.”
“When you say perfect, do you-”
“I mean she got boys like a cold
She understood everyone around her
She always did what she was told.
So when that girl called her fat
And told her to just die
She found an opportunity, but
This is Amy; she let it pass her by
Amy is smarter than that
She didn’t want to die
Plus, Amy wouldn’t leave me
Without saying goodbye.”
