Hi we have a 2002 type r honda civic which obviously has four seats. We are in need of 5 seats as our family is growing. We have approached a honda dealer who said that it would be illegal to get seat belts fitted in the middle of the back seat as it is sold as a four seater, however, we have been told that it would be possible to fit a type s rear seat into the vehicle and gain the middle seat.
What I would like to know is whether this is possible to do and if so, is it legal. Obviously the insurance company would be notified but I need to know if we would get in trouble if seen to be carrying five passengers? Thanks in advance
