...cb650f, etc)? By upright, I mean the sitting position is upright, not the super sport bikes. I was looking at a Honda Hornet but I am starting to realize that it might not be that convenient for touring.
If I go into the mountains I will want to bring some items with me. Where would I put them on
say, a Ninja 650, for example. What would be a good choice for something that could be fitted
with luggage. I cannot afford a sport tourer. My used price range is $5000. I want something
that is at least 2005 or newer. Thanks for your input.
 
You can buy soft luggage for just about any bike. There are 4 pieces you can get: tank bag, tail bag, and 2 saddle bags. I did a lot of touring on a Buell Lightning with such a setup. You can also get a hard case to mount on the tail (Givi, for instance), although these are more expensive than soft luggage. Hard side cases are not made for all models of bikes, so you would have to check for your specific model.
