can you put a three sim card ( on contract) into a unlocked phone?

Hi as long as you have an unlocked 3g handset then yes your sim will work in it now i will pre warn you if you contact 3 for the settings they get really funny giving you them if the phones not branded "3" i know this for fact because i had a generically unlocked sony k850i (never locked to a network from new) & in the end i had to get the settings from the sony ericsson website because "3" wouldnt help me as the phone wasnt "3" branded ... hope this helps .. sly
 
Problably, but likely as not it will only work for calls and texts.

Three uses a lot of proprietary software for its internet programs, you see.

Also, the unlocked phone needs to operate of 3G frequencies - 3 won't work on 2G.

However, in my experience, with 3 an unlocked phones, there is no guarantee.
