Can you play Xbox live with someone who has playstation network?

Someone at school told me that if two people have call of duty 4,one for xbox 360 and one for ps3,then they can play each other online even though there different systems.I don't beilve that,but maybe you can help me
 
They lied, there's only one game that i know of that is cross platform between Xbox 360 and PS3. Well It's 360 and PS2 actually, that game being Final Fantasy 11. Atleast i think it is...
