Can you participate in a sport at a community college while attending a csu or uc?

ok, say you have the grades to enroll in a particular UC or CSU, but your athletic ability may not be good enough to make their team. However the community college close by has a program that would love to have you on their team. Can you go to school at the university and still play for the community college?
