Can you paint (acrylic) on an already glazed ceramic piece?

I glazed it and it came out blotchy, so I was wondering that if I re-painted it with acrylic paint if it would have a different texture or finish then acrylic on plain clay.

Also, thing I painted was red, so I was wondering if I re-painted it purple could the red shine through at all.
