Can you move out with student loans in college? Is it a bad idea?

I'm going to be in school for quite a while, I'm a college sophmore and I'm going to become an art therapist- which if you didn't know, is a psychologist that specializes in theraputic art sessions as well as diagnostics. I have been going to community college so far but I will have to transfer sometime next year.

The school I picked is about 40 minuetes away from where I live and I would rather not commute, especially when it's winter. My boyfriend graduates this May for mechanical engineering and will most likely have a full time job this summer in that field. We've been together 4 years and decided we will be living together when we move out. I work part time as a nanny and I probably would get a job working at the school too. I'm somewhat overwhelmed with what I would need to move out though, apartments cost around $ 700-800 and factoring in parking and what not it will be around $12,000 just to rent for a year, plus utilities and I would need to buy furniture.

I know practuacally everyone I went to highschool with went away to college, some even out of state, and did all this-many of them not even working at all while going to school, so I assume they pay for everything with loans? I mean is it a horrible idea to do this? Two of my cousins graduated and are working and they seem to be fine, the one even went to Europe with her loan money when she was still in school.
