Can you make cake pops without chocolate topping/ with frosting topping instead?

Hi so I've been looking at cakepop recipes online and was just wondering if instead of dipping the cake mix in chocolate could I do it with a frosting recipe instead if I altered one so they'd dry hard/crispy, if so do you have any recipes?
