My mother is worried she won't be able to catch soaps when she gets home from work. At 87, she does not want to go buy a new TV (yeah, she does still put in 25-30 hrs/wk!!!), How to do it? (She does not have cable, doesn't really watch that much TV) Thanks (TV does have AV inputs

With a digital converter box, you can still hook up the VCR and record programs. The only problem is you would have to set the converter box to the channel you want to record. So if you want to record 2 programs on 2 different channels you would have to be around to change channels on the converter box. That could be a problem if thats what she does.

Hook the output from the converter box to the input of the VCR. Connect the output of the VCR to the input of the TV. You wont be able to record one channel and watch another though, and you will have to change channels using the converter box.
