Can you hook up a 3.5mm MP3 player to Panasonic Ghost CQ-HX1083U?

Got a CQ-HX1083U Panasonic Ghost deck, made in 03. It has a aux mode with RCA outs. I went ahead and get a RCA to 3.5mm audio jack in hopes of hooking it up to my Zune... Fail. It did not work... I did the same procedure with a Alpine CDA-9835 deck and it worked.. Any ideas? Do I need a special cable? Hooking into the wrong RCA out? Whats the deal?
