I would give almost anything to find out any sort of real information about a film I saw a very, very long time ago. The problem is, I know very, VERY little about this film, and I even have a suspicion that I could very well be the only person currently living on the planet with any knowledge whatsoever that this film even ever existed. So, I'm not holding out much hope... but, I figured I'd post the question anyway - just on the off chance that maybe someone knows what I'm talking about.
I saw the film in question on TV around 30 years ago. It played very late at night when I saw it, and that would have been right around 1980 or '81 - give or take a year or two.
The film was in black and white, although I'm pretty sure it was made sometime in the 1970s, or possibly 1960s. The film was about two young boys (Probably pre-teen, or maybe early teens), both in wheelchairs, and living in some sort of hospital or institution. The boys, if I remember correctly, were mute. I believe they might have been suffering from cerebral palsy, or some similar condition. If I remember correctly, they were practically the only two people in the entire film. And, the film may have had no, or very, very little dialog in it at all. The entire film had a very dark, depressing an eerie feel to it. I believe it may have been a sort of documentary shot in a sort of cinema verite style. I believe it may have been Canadian in origin. There was a scene where one of the boys (or possibly both) was/were eating cake - I *think* one of the boys grabbed the other boy's slice of cake and threw it on the ground, which caused him to become very upset. There was also a scene where a nurse, or some other person, wheeled the two boy's wheelchairs together so they could sit next to each other. For seemingly no reason one boy reached out and punched the other in the face, and the one who was punched began to scream and cry - the nurse quickly rushed in to separate them again.
And, that's about all I remember. I know it's not much to go on, but if anyone can help identify this movie in ANY way, you have NO IDEA how immensely grateful I would be!!! You really can not imagine! I've been searching for ANY info. on this movie for three decades!!! I've searched EVERYWHERE! I've spent hours on IMDB doing exhaustive key-word searches, on Archive.org and a bunch of other Internet film resources, like the NFB and others! I always come up absolutely blank.
So, sadly, I fear that the movie is entirely lost to time. It was probably some small budget, independent experimental/documentary style film that I just happened to catch on its only television airing 30 years ago. The main players involved in its production have probably all passed away, and all extant copies of the film have probably long since rotted away in a land-fill somewhere.
But, MAN! If anyone knows what I'm talking about and could shed any light whatsoever on what this film might be... I'd be over the freakin' moon!!! You don't understand! This has been driving me nuts for a VERY long time.
