Can you have no lights on ur bike at night if your on the pavement and not the road?

Where I live, except for specific places, its against the Highway Code to cycle on pavement. It is also illegal to cycle at night without white front light and red rear light, anywhere around here

Well me and three mates are going, if 3 of us are on the road it takes longer for a driver to overtake and pull in therefore its more dangerous for us all >.>

two wrongs don't make a right. you need lights at night. you aren't suppose to ride on the sidewalks.
