Ben Dover was taking a vacation when he read about a bottomless well in a small town. He decided to visit the town, and when he arrived, he stopped at the post office to ask for directions. When he got to the house where the well was, he met a local teacher who offered a challenge to Ben. The teacher claimed she could throw a five pound weight into the well, no strings or rope attached, and be able to fetch it in 10 seconds. How?

Whoever answers it correctly gets a best answer.
 
This is hard, lol.
My only guess was to use a bucket, but capturing it in 10 seconds without a rope? Thats whats making it difficult...
 
My guess is that the well has a bucket on a rope inside, and the teacher throws the weight into the well but aims for the bucket.

Technically, there is no string or rope attached to the weight when it is thrown. But if it lands in the bucket, it can be pulled up with the bucket's rope. So she'll be able to retrieve it in 10 seconds.

Is this right? ^ ^;
