...question! Please, serious answers only!? Okay, this story is really stupid. I'm a 22 year old guy who lives in Kansas City have never broken any law or any criminal charges on me. Today I was supposed to have a christmas gift exchanges with my roomates, but few days earlier someone else stole it, so I went to walmart and stole a $7.50 T-Shirt for the gift exchange (Told y'all it was stupid) and I got busted. I freaked out about getting arrested because I'm not the jail type. I told them I promised it would never happen again and I wont touch that Walmart again. I was cooperative all the way with the cops. The cop just gave me a court date on December 30th and told me it was a misdemeanor and I wasnt arrested, they let me go. So this means if I show up for court, would I get arrested or fined or a diversion? Also, to note that I'm supposed to be moving in an new apartment on January 4th and I'll be going to College on Jan 19th, I already signed up for class and everything else, so I don't want this stupid mistake to stop me from going to school cuz I only got two semesters before I graduate. What should I say or do in court? How do I convice the Judge that I'm serious about this situation? This is a serious question, please give me a serious answer, thanks. Below is a chart for Offenses and
penalties. Remember that I only took a 7.50 shirt and I never have any prior records. It says up to one year in jail for a misdemeanor of less than $1,000 and my ticket said Misdemeandor complaint No. C. Is that supposed to be a class C misdemenador? or not? I'm confused! I'm deaf and I don't know anything about the system. Anybody else knows KS laws for first time offenders or any people who knows the laws, pls check the chart out and check the website for more info below. let me know if anybody else finds a better website than this. I'm having a court in 5 days. Please help!!!

I mean, I've been paranoid n freaking out for almost a month because I'm not the jail type and I'm a pacifist. Im a good person and many people loves me. I'll be finishing school in August and I already signed up for a lease on my apartment and I got bills to pay. I will not survive one year in jail. I'm not a hardened criminal and I can't fight. Those r gang types in jail, and I'm gonna get killed, not to mention the fact I'm deaf and use sign language, which other prisoners can misunderstand as a gang sign. I'll be damned if my whole life's screwed over $7.50 shirt that I intended to give to a friend for a Christmas present.
