Can you go to jail for?

Texting someone non violent or threatening, when they told you to stop? Simply to reply that your feelings are hurt, but you'd stop? Someone filed a report and the cops want to speak with my sister for her side? Should she talk or get a lawyer?
 
That is called harassment by electronic means in my state, and is a misdemeanor.

Even is it is not violent or threatening, the fact it continues after you being told to stop makes it illegal. When someone says stop, you stop.

Jail is not common for a first time offender, but possible.
