Can you get out of a traffic ticket if the law is pointless?

First off, this happened in Riverside county in California. My cousin ran a stop sign and got pulled over and got a ticket. It is really frustrating because the stop sign is pointless. It is a two way stop and the only way he could turn is left. there is a field to the right and a barrier straight ahead. Left is the only way to go. It is just a left turn with a needless stop sign. Would there be any way to get out of this ticket based on the fact that the only possible reason for the stop sign is so cops can give out tickets and collect revenue?

Here is my logical argument
1) Laws are made to keep order and for safety.
2) A ticket is received when a law is broken
3)The purpose of a stop sign is to manage traffic and protect people
4) This stop sign doesn't manage traffic nor does it protect people
5) The stop sign is pointless
6) A pointless stop sign does not help keep order or safety
7) therefore a ticket should not be given to a drive who runs the pointless stop sign
