Can you get across the Bristol Channel on a bicycle? Specifically where the M48...

...section from Chepstow? I'm planning a charity bike ride from my house to Fistral Beach next year. The best route is through Wales to Bristol but I can't find anything that tells me whether I can cross the Bristol Channel where the M48 goes. Does anyone know if there is a road that crosses it that isn't a motorway.

You can put the bicycle on the train at Newport and go under the river severn to Bristol or travel around Gloucester by road.
