im writing a tragic romance novel and the family gets in a car crash and the girl later gets headaches and seizures and goes to the hospital for that and it like turns out to be a brain tumor the doctor missed after the crash. Is it possible for that and it would have grown to big to fix? if not what could happen like that as a result of a car crash?

You can't get a tumor from an outside impact. You can get it from an outside carcinogen or radiation. Tumors are caused by cells which multiply in an erratic way, usually the result of some mutation of the genome. Tumors develop all the time and escape the notice of doctors until they are too large to ignore.

It is biologically impossible to develop a tumor from a car crash.

You don't get cancer as a result of car crashes. Cancer happens when your cells mutate but don't get cleaned up by your immune system; the mutated cells go out of control, multiply incredibly, and essentially ruin how your body functions.

You could kludge it by saying the doctor treated head trauma sustained in the crash and should have noticed the tumor she already had... but missed it. You might be surprised how many people have brain abnormalities and tumors and don't know.... my ex worked in a research lab that does brain MRI scans, and they had to work up a procedure for notifying the research subjects that they might want to get a medical scan and a doctor to look at it, ASAP. It was not terribly rare (though not common) to notice some abnormality that warranted further investigation. He commented that nobody could believe that one fella was still up and walking around -- half his brain looked cancerous. Yet he had no abnormal indications (they never heard back from him, though they left several voicemails at his contact number).

haha no. ive been in a couple car crashes... when you get sent to the hospital they xray your body for broken bones, fractures, and internal bleeding. they would catch a brain tumor... and you can't get a brain tumor cause of the accident.

the character could have already had the brain tumor, some tumors are benign. and she didnt know it. getting into a car accident could have cause internal bleeding pressing up against the tumor.. i am no doctor but i dont think that would affect the actual tumor.. active tumors aren't things that you wouldn't know about, you would feel very very crappy and know something was wrong.

personally i think this is a poorly thought out way to give a character a brain tumor.
