Hey everyone..

I am interested in buying a toyota supra, I would like to go for a RZ twin turbo version.. but i was thinking; Is it possible to fit a Turbo in a SZ version ?

Well i think it is possible.. but how feasable is it ? i mean.. what is the difference between the SZ and RZ ( engine wise ) ?

is it just the turbos ? Can you fit a turbo in SZ on its standard engine ? and will it be safe ? Basically.. can you transform the SZ into an RZ by fitting a turbo?

Would appreciate some answers as im not sure what to buy.

Sure. People do it all the time. I wouldn't recommend it though. Slapping on a turbo without any other engine/computer work is not very smart. Sure it may give you a boost, but its not going to help your engine's life span. Too much wear and tear from the lack of necessary secondary upgrades. Good Luck though.

Yes you can.

A single turbo option often gives you more HP from a Supra anyway.

The engine itself, size, weight, location, etc. is all the same between the two models.

What's different is with one being TT from Toyota, it has different compression pistons and likely different cams (I'm not 100% sure); N/A will have higher compression pistons for sure.
So you'd have to think about things with that as well at just putting a turbo on.

You have to think about piston compression, what kind of intercooler you want to have, and the type of manifold you will need.

I'm not an expert on Toyotas, but I'm sure any local shop can give you some good answers as well.

Edit - Along with what George said, You'll need to get it retuned as well, as the ECU won't understand what you're trying to do and will likely end up running very rich. You don't want that to happen.

Yes, it is possible to turbocharge any engine.

Not much of a difference.

The RX has stronger pistons and headers for the turbo boost.

This just means that you cannot put more than 6psi boost if you install a turbo. 6psi boost adds 70-100HP.

With the RZ engine, you could have more boost to get even more power without worrying your engine would blow.
