Can you connect a Wii to the internet using a Touchstone Telephony Modem?

wii's have wireless internet.. soooo if you got a wi lan you wouldnt have to hook it up for anything, just browse for the connection.
 
I'm thinking about buying a Wii LAN Adapter so I can get access to the internet on my Wii. Your supposed to be able to hook it up to the Wii and then connect it to your modem using an Ethernet cord. Would my modem be compatible? I just want to make sure before I go out and buy this thing.
BTW;; Its a USB LAN Adapter. And I don't have wireless connection.
