Can you catch & eat any wild animals in the Australian forests/rainforests?

I'm writing a fictional story for a school writing class, and i need to know some animals that are edible and you can cook over a fire or something, in aussie forests. nothing like crocs, something that would be easy to catch, are there creeks for fish?

I know in real life you may not be allowed to eat these animals, but this is just fiction.

or even in the outback, like when Bear Grylls came here what did he eat, how did he catch it etc.
