If the question says: "How does the text support of challenge this argument"
Can you say that it both supports and challenges the argument.??

Q:- Can you argue both sides of an essay?

A:-Yes!

You are comparing and contrasting the given information. I suspect somewhere along the process you will be asked for your decision, but you can take you time getting there.

Sorry I can't add more without more information, but you get the gist of it being okay to not have made up your mind yet and seeing merit in both sides of a given argument or debate.

Q:- If the question says: "How does the text support of challenge this argument" Can you say that it both supports and challenges the argument.??

A:- I wouldn't say "...both supports and challenges..."

Rather, the question is asking in specific and certain terms how the text supported the argument. Even if you found the text to both support and undermine the argument, that was not the specific question was it? :o)

List ONLY how the text supported it, which is exactly and specifically what the question ask. Answer the question only.

NOTE- If you are given grief over the conciseness of your answer, then it is incumbent upon you to note the specific and certain line of questioning. Point out what you just learned. The question did NOT ask both points of view or for both sides of the argument being supported.

The question directly ask what in the given text SUPPORTED the argument. And you simply directly answered the question. :o)

Go get 'em!!!

Good Luck!
