I have some cucumber plants in my garden but I only get a few cukes off them at a time. Not enough to do even one quart of pickles. Plus I was told the best time to pickle them is when they are fresh. If I let them sit till I get enough to do a batch the pickles will be funny and hollow. I was wondering if it is possible to start a large batch of brine and add the cukes to the brine as I get them from my garden?
My mom always leaves her pickles in the brine for way longer than they need to be and they turn out great. So I was reasoning that the cukes I started with would be really well done while the last ones to go in would get a minimum amount of time in the brine.
