Can you add a sprint phone to a nextel service line?

My family has nextel service. I bought a sprint phone and my dad is convinced he will have to open a new account for me to use the sprint phone and that it will cost much more. Any help here?
 
No you can't add a sprint phone to a nextel contract. I have a nextel phone my dad pays..and tried buying a sprint phone and sprint told me in order for me to use this phone i'd have to open up a new account....I know it sucks i hate my nextel phone I hardly ever have service...but it's free
