Can you acticate an iPhone 3G(or 3GS) with verizon now that they sell the iPhone 4?

Im buying my friends iPhone 3 from her. I have verizon, and I have $9.99 data plan with my Samsung Reality. Can I activate the iPhone 3 with verizon without any drastic changes to my plan?
