I'm speaking specifically about the argument that you wouldn't want to be spanked by your boss or that it teaches the child to hit others when they anger them.
We all think the same thing when we read this particular argument and it does nothing to disprove spanking. A boss is not a parent and not responsible for raising us. We are also adults if we are old enough to have a boss so this argument just doesn't fly. Also, the child must be taught that spanking is a punishment for parents to do to their children and establish that the parents are the authority.
I don't get why those arguments must still be used, but maybe better ones can be thought of. Or perhaps you can explain to me why those arguments still work even against the spankers argument.
